Bias and perception: Podcast by TED radio hour on NPR… well the podcast started with what the biases actually are and why they exist. Biases are presumption based on our experience Why? Because the same appearance as like us, makes us Think that he would have the same qualities as like me and vice-versa in other case. So those who are not like us are not to be communicated and we think that they have to be avoided. simply without communicating with them, we presume how they are based on presumed thoughts without consulting or communicating with them. So this is natural tendency that we have in our cognitive behaviour. So another thing is that we think we have knowledge about something and based on that knowledge we make that biases. Also experiences that we have create some biases, intentionally or else we do not know about them when we create them so experiences shape biases and what we think about people around us and when it comes to choose ; this is is used by us to decide to communicate with which one. Another thing that impact on this is environment. Since childhood we have meet many people around us, those people have some qualities, have some appearance based on that we make presumption that this appearance will have these qualities so when the same appearance is observed by us we presume that the qualities would be inside that person that creates some biases unintentionally. Every time we see new person such biases are created. Technology is biased that means the programmers, the algorithm designers behind it have some biases and the program the things the way their biases are i.e.“Technology is objectionable” Another thing have some pre knowledge about something when we try to learn the new things about that particular thing then this biases come across the learning and stops us from convincing of getting whole knowledge about it as you mean what will previously known as a whole thing and its all about that and true. So what we should do? Simply saying we should not have biases and perception you not work because there are ought to come but what we can do is that we can control them and make sure that we are not biased while communicating with the new things, new people in our life. Simply while learning new things be unbiased and assume that we don’t have anything; instructor will tell you everything that he knows. Based on this basis, we have created for perception if we have to connect with more and more people and want to know what they actually are then we should not have this biases and perception. In case of Google how the search results are being shown as popular or how the accurate search results of picked? Well in this case, the way the thing appears on the internet and the captions of the images what the image name actually, is what makes the thing Popular. Another view that is being mentioned that the controllers of the algorithm are those who have created the search algorithms are manipulating and can manipulate the results as they want. So they are what the creators of the world actually are as they can make people assume things the way they want. So based on these biases, they decide what matter to interfere in and what not to do.
